Check out the July issue of Decline for the article, "Little Black Book of Slang and The South American Pre-Season Whirlwind with Chris Van Dine" - CVD
Cannondale's Chris Van Dine (CVD) graces the cover and gives an entertaining and telling interview to Dirt Magazine... talking about his life and times as one of today's best Racer/Freeriders out there.
Before his time was posted, Brazil's national hero and six-time PanAm champ, Markolf Berkchtold came storming through, taking the hot seat. The last two racers came up short and the Brazilians charged the finish area, picking Markoff up in a sea of yellow and blue. A few seconds later, over the chaos of the Brazilian celebration an announcement was made in Spanish and the Chileans absolutely erupted – in the middle of the swarm was a USA jersey as they hoisted CVD onto their shoulders and started chanting his name.
I will start this blog by stating the fact that this is pretty much my favorite downhill bicycle race of all time. It doesn't have the weathered, roaring crowds of Fort William, Scotland, or the prestige of Worlds in Les Gets, or the youthful expressionism (hedonism) of Crankworx in Whistler, but racing through the streets of Valparaiso and experiencing the insane Latin American energy that comes from the streets of this Chilean city on race day is second to none my friends.
Cannondale Rider and all-around good guy Chris Van Dine advances to fifth overall in the 48 Straight Jeep King of the Mountain series. Watch it on CBS October 12th.
About 23 centuries ago Aristotle
concluded that more than anything else human beings seek happiness.
Quite a few things have changed in this world since Aristotle's time,
yet many argue that we haven't made much progress in the happiness department
since then. Last month there was a major breakthrough in mankind's age-old
happiness paradox. It has been discovered that true happiness lies in
combining motorcycles and bicycles into one road trip.
